CELEBRATE THE BIRTHDAY OF THE BILL OF RIGHTS AT THE NATIONAL CONSTITUTION CENTER

All activities are FREE with museum admission. General museum admission is $5 on Saturday, December 14 as a part of Macy’s Family Days, courtesy of The Macy’s Foundation.

Visitors will learn about the Bill of Rights and its creation during this fast-paced game show.

                        Signers’ Hall Tours, 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Guests can learn about the debate surrounding a bill of rights at the Constitutional Convention, and why it was ultimately left out of the document. Plus, visitors can pose for a photo in Signers’ Hall with James Madison, considered the “Father of the Bill of Rights.”

Plus, don’t miss these special events in connection with the museum’s current feature exhibition Capture the Moment: the Pulitzer Prize Photographs.

The Press, the Pulitzer Prize, and the First Amendment in Action, 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.

This special interactive program focuses on photojournalists’ role in ensuring that citizens are informed about world events. Examining freedom of the press and free speech, the program delves into the history of journalism in the United States, featuring key figures like Benjamin Franklin, Nellie Bly, Mathew Brady, and Joseph Pulitzer.

Feature Exhibition Gallery
Rutgers Professor of American Studies and History Louis Masur will discuss his critically-acclaimed book The Soiling of Old Glory: The Story of a Photograph that Shocked America, an examination of the iconic Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph taken for the Boston Herald American in 1976 by Stanley Forman.

Monday, December 16, 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Feature Exhibition Gallery
Philadelphia Inquirer photographer Tom Gralish is the recipient of the 1986 Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography for his photo essay on Philadelphia’s homeless, which is featured in the exhibition.
