Trailer Parking with Raymond Tyler: Baggage Claim

In Trailer Parking, Raymond Tyler checks out a trailer and gives you his thought on the film based on the trailer.

NOT SOUL PLANE

First things first when I saw that another movie involving air planes with a black cast was coming out, I had flash backs or should I say "trash" backs of Soul Plane. Other than the brilliant Soul Plane 2 trailer from The Boondocks let's never speak on this again.

Baggage Claim

The Good News and Bad News is that the trailer reminds me of several other movies.
Parts of the trailer reminds me of Brides Maids.

Parts of the trailer reminded me of What's Your Number.
The Bad News is that I am weary of the premise that successful Black women have a on going struggle to find successful Black men to marry.

The Good News is that Jill Scott brings a pitch perfect sense of timing to the jokes in the trailer.
Scott's days as a spoken word artist seems to have given her the ability to deliver punch lines and act.
Scott seems to use almost all of her talents to portray a supporting character that is fully developed not just a carbon copy of "the wise cracking best friend."

Over All

Over all...Baggage Claim brings a lot of characters we have seen before in other comedies. However, the writing seems to be smart and brings enough new ideas to be entertaining.

Baggage Claim should be a great date movie if not a ground breaking comedy.

So based on the trailer.

I am giving this film a thumbs up if not a ringing endorsement.
The film looks fun and should provide enough laughs for your weekend.

Watch the trailer and judge for yourself and tell us what you think.

  1. I'll go see it because it seems that "everyone" is in it. But it seems like just another romantic comedy.
